What is your favorite office outfit or look?
A great combination for me is a dress layered with a cardigan, belt and fun necklace or scarf. It really plays up my hourglass figure, looks polished and pulled together but yet is comfy enough for a long day at the office or out and about wherever my job may take me for the day.
How you do find work appropriate clothing on a budget?
Shopping on a budget can almost be a sport! I seldom buy anything full price and really work to utilize coupons and promotions when shopping in the stores and online. I have one email address just set up to receive store emails. That way I’m not tempted to buy when I don’t need anything, but have the information and deals if I am planning a shopping trip or need to buy a few things. Also, when shopping online I utilize a “rebate” website to get extra cash back on my purchases.
Describe your business casual style and tell us what you feel makes it unique.
I feel I get my “uniqueness” from accessorizing. The basic components of my wardrobe are fairly simple and the majority from mass-market retailers. However, I feel like I stand out from the crowd because I’m not afraid to wear a statement necklace, a fun pair of shoes or brightly colored scarf.
What do you think is the most common mistake women make when selecting their work wardrobe? (i.e, too tight clothing, ripped denim)
Honestly, I think a lot of women think their professional wardrobe has to be boring and full of staple pieces in classic colors. It’s almost like they create this type of “work wardrobe” uniform and if they express an interest in fashion they aren’t going to be taken seriously in their profession. However, I think taking time to pull together non-boring yet professional wear is the way to go. You will be recognized for being a strong, confident woman along with being professional.
